To celebrate the release of the new album, K-TRAP visits Kingston to play at The Fighting Cocks.

When K-Trap entered the UK music scene, he was shrouded in mystery. Donning a mask that he kept on until 2019, his opaque appearance made his raps stop you in your tracks. Real, visceral and unmistakably authentic, K-Trap channelled the harsh concrete confines of his South London milieu and transmitted reports from the streets in song, geared towards fans of ‘real rap’ and, slowly but surely, the bright lights of the UK mainstream.

His acclaimed position came with accolades. Multiple MOBO Award wins and a BRIT Award nomination, a Platinum-certified single in 2021’s ‘Warm.’ Two UK Top 10 projects in Smile? and STRENGTH TO STRENGTH, his seismic and long-awaited collaborative effort with Headie One. Performing to over 20,000 people at London’s O2 when he performed ‘Warm’ as the entrance music for boxer Anthony Joshua in 2023. Not to mention being brought by Drake at Wireless Festival 2025. All the highlights of a man whose rise from underground buzz to mainstream mainstay has been an unequivocal achievement.

Raised in Gipsy Hill on a diet of R&B, reggae and hip-hop, K-Trap utilised drill as his launching pad. His early anthems ‘Last Whip,’ ‘No Hook’ and ‘No Convo’ – from 2017’s classic debut mixtape The Last Whip – explored the streets from his vantage point, aiming a magnifying glass to his experiences, illustrated with his now signature booming vocals and ambidextrous delivery. Meanwhile, follow up projects such as Street Side Effects, Joints and The Last Whip 2, dug deeper into his psyche, shedding skin and freeing him from the somewhat limiting classification as a drill rapper.

K-Trap carries this freedom of expression into upcoming new album TRAPO 2, the follow up to his celebrated 2021 mixtape of the same name. Enlisting international stars such as G Herbo, Oxlade and Masicka, as well as frequent collaborator Young Adz, he brings the worlds of dancehall, afrobeats and hip-hop seamlessly under one roof of rhythm. K-Trap retains his original essence throughout TRAPO 2, opening the door further into the personal growth that has guided the music up to this point.

With a new album on the way and renewed energies to take over the scene all over again, K-Trap is back to maintain his mission; to dazzle, to surprise and to make you expect the unexpected.

Times TBC but we expect doors at 7:00pm
